Airlines & Air Transportation
Just as Turkey forms a bridge between Europe and Asia, Turkish Airlines makes connections between Turkey and the rest of the world. Including its domestic operations, the carrier flies to some 150 destinations, largely in Europe, but also in Africa, the Asia/Pacific region, the Middle East, and North America. It operates a fleet of more than 130 jets. To extend its international network, Turkish Airlines joined the Star Alliance, a global airline marketing group that includes carriers such as Lufthansa and United. Besides passenger operations, which account for most of its sales, Turkish Airlines offers cargo and aircraft maintenance services. The government of Turkey owns about half of the company.
