Airlines & Air Transportation
The legendary Flying Dutchman sails on alone, but Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (aka KLM Royal Dutch Airlines) is part of Air France-KLM, Europe's largest airline company. KLM and Air France operate from their own hubs in Amsterdam and Paris as independent carriers, but coordinate their businesses. It flies to 150 destinations and operates about 200 planes; about 55 are used for KLM's Cityhopper charter operations. The airline's two other Netherlands-based subsidiaries, Transavia and Martinair, offer budget charter and scheduled flights. KLM also offers engineering services. KLM and Air France are members of the SkyTeam alliance, which also includes carriers such as Delta, Alitalia, and Korean Air Lines.
